This evening after a big thunderstorm and torrential rain we walked to Bothal Mill to see what the River Wansbeck was like at the weir. It was flowing very fast and high with a lot of tree branches being carried along and over the weir. The fish ladder was certainly not in use!

Below are four photos of the river at the weir followed by a view across the fields above the river during a small spell of sunshine.

18 June 2012 - Wansbeck Riverside Park, Sheepwash, Northumberland.

This afternoon we took advantage of a short spell of sunshine and visited the River Wansbeck for a walk along the riverside footpath to Sheepwash Bridge.

Below are four photos of the River Wansbeck near the car park and the currently closed Wansbeck Riverside Park Caravan and Camp Site, the boarded up shop and office can be seen in the first two photos.

13 June 2012 - Amble, Northumberland.

This evening we visited Amble Harbour and pier. Very few people were about except for a few anglers and a few folk in cars parked on the quayside, where the traffic barrier was out of operation.

The first photo below is a view from the bottom of the harbour steps at low tide, followed by a view of gulls on the quayside.

The third photo is a view of sea anglers at the end of the pier followed by two views taken from the shore below the promenade.
