27 April 2012 - Blyth Beach Walk, Northumberland.
This afternoon we visited Blyth South Beach for a walk along the beach to the piers and harbour at low tide.
Below are five views looking along the beach In both directions. To the south St. Mary's Island Lighthouse can be seen and to the north Blyth East Pier Lighthouse.

14 April 2012 - Amble, Northumberland.
After we visited Low Hauxley this afternoon we drove along the cost road into Amble where we walked along the pier and promenade.
The first three photos below are views of the pier and breakwater where waves were starting to roll up the River Coquet with the incoming tide. The next two photos are views towards the promenade.

14 April 2012 - Low Hauxley, Northumberland.
Today we visited Low Hauxley for a walk along the beach at low tide on a windy but sunny afternoon.
The first two photos below are views looking north along the windswept beach towards Coquet Island. This beach seems to change a lot throughout the year and often there is a lot of coal dust and kelp here. Today the sand was the cleanest and highest we have ever seen it.
The third photo is a view looking north from the dunes at Hauxley towards Amble, followed by a view looking out to Coquet Island. The last photo is a view looking south across the cottages at Hauxley towards Druridge Bay. In the far distance the chimneys of Alcan power station and smelter can be seen at Lynemouth.
