27 November 2009 - Cambois and North Blyth, Northumberland.

This afternoon we visited Cambois to take some photos between the river Wansbeck and the River Blyth.

The first photo below is a view along Cambois Beach, looking towards Blyth. The second photo is a view of the mouth of the River Wansbeck as the tide was going out.

The third photo is a view of ships docked at Battleship Wharf in the Port of Blyth. In the foreground two container ships, cape Henry and Cape Horn are long term visitors, tied up waiting for cargo.

The fourth photo is a view along Blyth East Pier and the last photo is a view of the cargo ship Deo Volente leaving Blyth after delivering more wind turbine sections.

20 November 2009 - Newbiggin, Northumberland.

This afternoon we visited Newbiggin to take some extra photos for our Northumberland website. It was a cold afternoon with just a few people walking along the beach, including a few dog walkers.

Below is a photo of a lone sea angler setting up on the rocks at the Needles Eye. The second photo is a view of the sculpture, "Couple" located on the breakwater in the middle of the bay. The third photo is a view of St. Bartholemews Church shortly before sunset.

16 November 2009 - Blyth, Northumberland.

This afternoon we visited Blyth for a walk along the South Beach. On the way, we stopped at Bates Jetties to take some photos of the river where a cargo ship, Musketier, was moored waiting to be loaded with material for recycling. It is seen in the first two photos below, alongside the conveyors that were once used to load coal from Bates Colliery.

The third photo is a view across the river to North Blyth at high tide. In the fourth photo a fishing boat is seen returning to port past the east pier and lighthouse.

The fifth photo is a view along the beach at lighting-up time, still busy with walkers and sea anglers. The last photo is a view of the lighthouse with it's light flashing after the sun had set.

09 November 2009 - Druridge Bay Country Park and Beach Walk, Northumberland.

This morning we visited Druridge Bay for a walk along the beach to Ladyburn Lake. There were quite a few people about for a weekday morning, mostly walkers, dog owners and a horse rider taking advantage of the fine morning.

The first two photos below are views taken along the track to Ladyburn Lake behind the dunes, this is part of the national cycle route.

The third photo is a view from the steps leading to Ladyburn Lake from the beach, followed by a view of the outflow stream from the lake where it runs into the sea. The last two photos are views of Ladyburn Lake, taken near the visitor centre.

04 November 2009 - Sunrise at Blyth, Northumberland.

This morning we visited Blyth to take photos of the sun rising between the piers. It was a great morning, clear, crisp and a pleasant change from the recent dull weather. Some low cloud over the location where the sun was rising helped create a more interesting sky.

The first photo below is a view of the piers shortly before sunrise, followed by a photo of the South Harbour, also before sunrise. The next two photos are of the sun rising on the horizon and the last two photos are views up the River Blyth just after sunrise.
