Les + Jan Bell - Photographers Diary - August 2009

29 August 2009 - Bothal, Northumberland.

This afternoon, in between rain showers, we walked to Bothal in Northumberland. As seen in the first three photos below the sky was very dark and cloudy when we set off, but cleared to clear blue for a while as seen in the fourth photo. The last photo is a view of Bothal Castle with the remains of the cloudy sky in the distance.

22 August 2009 - Boulmer and Sugar Sands Walk, Northumberland Coast.

This afternoon we visited Boulmer on the Northumberland Coast for a walk along the headland and beach to Longhoughton Steel, Howdiemont Sands and Sugar Sands. The beaches were quite busy and one group had even erected a marquee on the sands.

The first two photos below are views of Sugar Sands and Howdiemont Sands, followed by a view at Longhoughton Steel. The fourth photo is a view looking north to Cullernose Point, Craster and Dunstanburgh Castle.

The fifth photo is another view of the point at Longhoughton Steel, this time from the path above. The last photo is a view along the track from Boulmer looking north.

12 August 2009 - Newcastle upon Tyne.

This afternoon we visited Newcastle to take some updated photos of the river and bridges for our Tyne Photos Website.

The first three photos below are views of the River Tyne and Millennium Bridge taken from the Tyne Bridge. The next three photos are views of the Tyne Bridge and Swing Bridge taken from the High Level Bridge.

We also took a few photos around the Cathedral and Castle Keep and the last photo is a view of the "Black Gate"

06 August 2009 - Amble, Northumberland.

This afternoon we visited Amble to test a new camera we just bought. Unfortunately the camera was a load of rubbish and has now been returned. However we did manage to salvage and edit a few photos for this website.

The first two photos below show the Amble Lifeboat, The Four Boys, leaving the harbour and heading out to sea. The next two photos are views of boats returning to Amble passing the end of the pier and lighthouse.

In the last two photos the lifeboat is seen returning and towing a very large and strange looking inflatable boat which had presumably broken down at sea.
