Photos from another visit to Morpeth today and a walk from the Town Centre along the river beside Bennett's Walk.

21 July 2008 - Morpeth, Northumberland.
Photos from a visit to Morpeth today and a walk along the riverside through Carlisle Park.
The first photo below shows the River Wansbeck at Oldgate Bridge. Before this bridge was built the river was crossed by a ford, which was used by all traffic including buses. The second photo is a view over the bridge and along Oldgate.
The third photo is a view of the bowling greens in Carlisle Park further along the river.

15 July 2008 - River Wansbeck Walk, Sheepwash, Northumberland.
Today we visited Wansbeck Riverside Park and walked along the footpath beside the River Wansbeck past the camping and caravan site to Sheepwash bridge and weir.
The first photo below is a view along the river beside the main car park. The second photo is a view of Stakeford road bridge and the "Black Bridge" that carries the railway to Ashington over the river. The third photo is a view of Sheepwash bridge and weir.

03 July 2008 - Amble, Northumberland Coast.
Today we visited Amble harbour for a walk along the pier and quayside at high tide.
Quite a few boats were returning to the harbour including a new boat providing trips around Coquet Island.
In the first two views below, fishing boats and a yacht are making their way up the River Coquet. The third photo is a closer view of the Nimrod, one of the largest fishing boats at Amble, moored beside a recent newcomer, Ranger, which looks in need of a lot of work. The last photo is a view of the catamaran, Shokwave, leaving the river for Coquet Island.
