31 May 2007 - Morpeth, Northumberland.

A walk around Morpeth today to take some photos for our Northumberland Website. The first photo shows the historic Clock Tower from the rear. This shot was needed as we already have some of the front but it needs to be taken in the afternoon when the sun has moved around. A sign of the times in this photo is the almost inevitable boarded up shop front. No sign of work going on but hopefully a new shop will open. The second photo below is from Carlisle Park - full of colour at the moment.

22 May 2007 - Wanney Crags, Northumberland.

Tonight we went for a walk to the Wanney Crags near Woodburn in Northumberland. The area which gave it's name to the Northumbrian phrase The Wilds of Wanney because of it's quite remote setting. It is quite popular with rock climbers and there were a few there tonight.

This photo is a view looking east from the top of the crags towards Ray Fell - a fantastic view that will be destroyed if the proposed wind turbine power station is built in this area.

21 May 2007 - Morpeth, Northumberland.

A walk along the River Wansbeck at Morpeth today whilst there on other business. The river is quite low at the minute as this photo taken at the stepping stones shows.

19 May 2007 - Amble Harbour, Northumberland.

Today we went for one of our regular walks around the harbour at Amble. It was extremely windy and there weren't many people about.

Most of the fishing fleet were in the harbour as can be seen in the photo below, as the sea was very rough.

14 May 2007 - Belsay Gardens, Northumberland.

Today we visited Belsay Gardens and hall in Northumberland. It was fine when we arrived so we decided to walk around the gardens first and visit the art exhibition in the hall afterwards. That was a mistake - shortly after we reached the Quarry Garden the heavens opened and we had to take shelter.

The first photo below is of spring flowering shrubs beside the Croquet Lawns, while the second was taken during the downpour looking out from the shelter and seat in the Quarry Garden.

08 May 2007 - Bothal, Northumberland.

A walk through fields to the tiny village of Bothal in Northumberland today. Some of the fields were bright yellow, as is the case in many parts of the county at the moment.

03 May 2007 - Bolam, Northumberland.

Today we went for a walk around Bolam Lake in Northumberland. We also visited nearby Bolam Church and Meldon Church.

The first photo below is of St. Andrew's Church at Bolam, a very old and pretty church. The second photo shows a pair of the many Canada Geese at Bolam lake enjoying the sunshine (and hissing at me!) The third photo is of the small Church of St. John the Baptist at Meldon.
