30 September 2006 - North Blyth, Northumberland.
A visit to North Blyth today to stock up on Port Photos. It was a bright sunny day with enough wind to keep
the wind turbines along the pier moving.
In this photo a ship is unloading Aluminium Ore
at the Alcan Terminal for delivery by rail to the smelter.

28 September 2006 - Bakethin Reservoir,
Kielder.
After a walk on the north shore of Kielder Water in
Northumberland we took a late afternoon visit to Bakethin Weir,
near Kielder Village.
After very heavy rain this part of the reservoir was
much higher than on a previous visit in July. The weather was changeable
but good for moody type photos.
This photo was taken from the shore beside the
weir looking up Bakethin Reservoir towards Kielder.

27 September 2006 - Hawick, Roxburghshire,
Scotland.
Today we visited Hawick in the Borders. It was a dull
day, not very good for colour photography, but good for black and
white photos.
This is a shot of the old bridge over the River
Teviot - in black and white there is little to give away the fact
that this has just been taken - it could be many years old - like
the bridge and surrounding buildings.

21 September 2006 - Hulne Park, Alnwick,
Northumberland.
Hulne Park is one of Northumberland's great places.
Unknown to many it is part of the Estate of Alnwick Castle and the
public are allowed access to walk on some of it's many miles of
tracks.
We were heading to Hulne Priory to visit the Priory
remains - a lovely place and well worth the walk.
On the way we noticed a bull standing on his own looking
a bit lonely in a field beside the road. He was a magnificent animal
so we stopped to take his photo. He wandered up to the fence and
poked his head over to greet us and seemed a very friendly beast
(while we were on opposite sides of the fence anyway!)
Here he is - the friendly Bull.

18 September 2006 - Amble Marina Northumberland.
Today we set out to try a new piece of equipment to
aid taking panoramic photos. Amble seemed a good nearby location
to try it out.
We took quite a lot of photos some of which will be
made into panoramic photos at a later date.
In between we took other photos for our websites
- this one shows some of the many boats moored in Amble Marina.

12 September 2006 - Amble, Northumberland
Coast.
There is a funfair on the waterside at Amble this
week and in the evening it illuminates the area around the harbour
and pier.
This photo from the pier shortly after darkness
fell shows the funfair lights and harbour floodlights reflecting
in the water.

10 September 2006 - Belsay Gardens,
Northumberland.
Today we went to Belsay gardens near Ponteland in
Northumberland. There was a vintage car show and the whole place
was very busy.
After looking at the cars we went for a walk around
the gardens. It was a warm sunny afternoon and In some parts of
the gardens Butterflies and Bees were abundant.
In this photo a Butterfly is leisurely going about
it's business while hovering just above is a Bee waiting his turn
and looking rather impatient!

09 September 2006 - Amble, Northumberland
Coast.
Today we visited Amble Harbour at high tide on one
of the biggest tides of the year.
The river was very busy with lots of boats coming
and going and lots of people fishing.
Just as we arrived able Lifeboat was leaving the river
and shortly afterwards the inshore rescue boat followed at high
speed. They both headed up the coast towards Alnmouth.
In this photo the inshore rescue boat is leaving
the River Coquet past Amble North Breakwater.

08 September 2006 - Tynemouth Pier.
A visit to Tynemouth Pier today to take photos of
shipping on the River Tyne brought an unexpected bonus - a rough
sea.
As high tide approached waves were breaking over the
pier and people were "running the gauntlet". A little
later the pier was closed as the waves got even higher.
This chap is trying to make his escape from a drenching
while others look on. In the far distance a large cargo ship has
just left the River Tyne.

07 September 2006 - Hexham, Northumberland.
A visit to Tynedale today for stock photos. Afterwards
we visited Hexham town centre.
It was a day when it was sunny one minute and dull
the next, but just as we passed the Abbey the sun shone for a late
afternoon photo.

Photos Section of our Northumberland website.

01 September 2006 - Delaval Hall, Northumberland.
Today we visited Tynemouth to take photos of the North
Pier Lighthouse. Afterwards we went to Delaval Hall, a large Hall
just outside of Seaton Sluice in Northumberland.
Late afternoon in summer is the best time to get
a good photo of the hall as it faces north.
This photo was taken from beside the entrance gate
to the grounds of Delaval Hall.
