28 November 2006 - Bothal Castle, Northumberland.
A local walk this afternoon to Bothal. Many of the
trees have lost their leaves in the recent strong winds. Some trees
are hanging on to a bit of colour though and mixed with evergreens
form a nice backdrop to the castle.
Here is a view of Bothal Castle in late afternoon
sun.

26 November 2006 - Cresswell, Northumberland
Coast.
This afternoon we visited Cresswell on the Northumberland
Coast. Rain was forecast but there were clear skies and sunshine
all afternoon.
The beach here is popular for walking and fishing
and there were plenty of people enjoying both.
Here is a view looking south along the beach at
the south end of Druridge Bay. On the right is Cresswell Village
and on the left people are fishing from the beach.

25 November 2006 - Amble, Northumberland
Coast.
A walk at sunset after a very heavy rain shower over
the Northumberland Coast at Amble. Quite calm in comparison to the
previously forecast weather.
Below are two photos of the sky turning red over
the Amble Fishing Fleet and the North Breakwater with it's green
navigation light already on.

18 November 2006 - Druridge Bay, Northumberland
Coast.
This afternoon we walked along the beach at the north
end of Druridge Bay to Low Hauxley on the Northumberland Coast.
The sun was setting and creating a colourful sky.
At the same time, the tide was going out leaving the
wet sand to reflect the colours in the sky.
Here are two photos of "Sunset Beach".

17 November 2006 - Happy Sheep, Northumberland.
Today was spent editing photos for websites from recent
trips, so we didn't actually go anywhere, but there is often a photo
lurking within a photo.
That was the case when editing some photos from Ingram.
Sheep were in the foreground of some photos where a number of shots
were taken within seconds of each other. It wasn't until these were
blown up while editing today that the photos below were revealed.
If sheep could speak what would these two be saying
to each other? Were they lovers whispering in each others ear or
were they talking about me looking over the wall at them? Whichever
it was they look very happy.

16 November 2006 - Bothal, Northumberland.
A local walk this afternoon at sunset to Bothal in
Northumberland. Not much scope for photos but a bit of colour in
the sky provided a good background to some old trees.

11 November 2006 - Amble, Northumberland
Coast.
The weather today was not very good but by mid afternoon
the sky was clearing and turning fine so we went to Amble for a
walk around the harbour
The Trinity House survey ship "Mermaid"
was moored just outside the river entrance by the north breakwater
and some of the crew were in the harbour in a small boat.
What it was doing we weren't sure but there are wrecks
nearby so perhaps they were updating data for navigation charts
near the harbour entrance.
These photos show the Trinity House survey ship
"Mermaid" moored at Amble, just before and after sunset.

09 November 2006 - Coquetdale, Northumberland.
Another beautiful November day and the trees in many
parts of Northumberland are now taking on their full Autumn colours.
Today was an outing to the Coquet Valley to take photos
for websites.
These photos were taken at Woodhouses Bastle, a
fortified farmhouse near Holystone.

02 November 2006 - Cheviot Hills, Northumberland.
A visit to the Cheviot Hills today to take advantage
of the fine weather for some website photos. A much calmer day than
yesterday at the coast.
Below is a photo of St Mary's Church Tower in Wooler
Town Centre while the second photo is at Hartside near Linhope in
the Cheviot Hills.

01 November 2006 - South Shields -
Tyne & Wear.
A visit to South Shields today to take photos of lighthouses,
but the wind hadn't dropped much from yesterday so the sea was very
rough and the pier end was closed.
Nevertheless the rough sea still provided an opportunity
for some more distant shots of the waves pounding the pier.
This photo shows waves breaking over the lighthouse
and pier in bright sunshine. A short while later and the sun was
replaced by very dark skies, seen in the next shot.

In these photos the King of Scandinavia battles through huge
waves to enter the River Tyne, arriving a few hours late due to
sea conditions - no doubt many passengers were pleased to arrive!
