30 April 2016 - Sheepwash, Northumberland.
This evening we visited Wansbeck Riverside Park at Sheepwash for a walk along the River Wansbeck to Sheepwash Bridge where a swan had built her nest. The nest was on a small island in the middle of the river just below the bridge and visible from the riverside footpath.
The first three photos below are views along the River Wansbeck. followed by two views of the swan sitting on her nest. Passers-by who we spoke to said she had quite a few eggs - hopefully they would all be successfully hatched eventually.

22 April 2016 - Bothal, Northumberland.
This afternoon we walked to Bothal Woods to take photos of the Bluebells which were just starting to flower.
Below are three photos of the bluebells followed by two photos of Brocks Burn which flows through the woods.

22 April 2016 - Coney Garth, Ashington, Northumberland.
This morning we visited the small lake at Coney Garth just outside Ashington to take photos of the swan who builds her nest near the roadside.
This swan has a nest which is like a small island and has been sitting on it for weeks. She is visible from the road if you are in a bus, truck or high 4x4 car. Below are four photos of the lake and the swan sitting on her nest. * Update - she had seven cygnets.

20 April 2016 - Cresswell, Northumberland Coast.
This morning we visited Cresswell on the Northumberland Coast for a short walk along the beach and rocks.

19 April 2016 - North Shields Fish Quay.
This morning we visited North Shields Fish Quay for a walk along the River Tyne.
The first photo below is a view of fishing boats moored at North Shields Fish Quay followed by a view of the car and passenger ferry Princess Seaways leaving the River Tyne.

17 April 2016 - Bothal, Northumberland.
This afternoon we walked through Bothal woods to the village and returned along the road to Pegswood.

10 April 2016 - Amble, Northumberland Coast.
This afternoon we visited Amble for a walk around the market, the harbour and the pier.

This morning we visited Blyth for a walk along the South beach to the West Pier and South Harbour.
