26 June 2014 - Amble, Northumberland Coast.
This evening we visited Amble for a short walk around the harbour, pier and promenade.
The first photo below is a view of fishing boats moored at the quayside, followed by a view of the navigation light at the end of the pier, with Coquet Island in the distance.
The third photo is a view of the rocky shore below the promenade at low tide and the last two photos are views of the Little Shore Beach and promenade.

20 June 2014 - Coney Garth, near Ashington, Northumberland.
This afternoon we took photos of birds on the small (private) lake at Coney Garth near Ashington in Northumberland.
We had seen lots of coots including one with a nest on the lake when passing in the car and decided to get some photos. There is no public access to this lake so we took some photos from the grass banking after walking to get there.
The first three photos show a coot feeding her young and the fourth photo is a coot sitting on her little island nest in the lake. The last photo is a view across the lake to some swans who also nest here.

18 June 2014 - Amble, Northumberland Coast.
This evening we visited for a walk around the harbour and pier as the sun was setting.
The first three photos below are views of the River Coquet seen from the quayside at sunset. The fourth photo is a view along the quay towards the pier, taken earlier in the evening. The last photo is a view of the Little Shore Beach, seen from the pier.

11 June 2014 - Ashington, Northumberland.
This morning we visited QEII Country Park and Lake at Ashington for a walk around the lake.
The first photo below is a view of swans and geese on the lakeside at the car park. The next four photos are views taken along the west side of the lake.

06 June 2014 - Ashington, Northumberland.
This afternoon we went for a walk in Ashington community Woodland, on the north side of the town centre.
We started by walking along the disused mineral Railway that ran from Ashington to Linton, as seen in the first photo below. Sections of this track seem to be getting attacked by metal thieves on an ongoing basis. many of the track tie chairs have been removed, as seen in the second photo below.
The third photo below is a view of Haydon Letch, which runs into the lake seen in the last two photos.

06 June 2014 - Sheepwash, Northumberland.
This morning we visited Wansbeck Riverside Country Park for another walk along the river to Sheepwash to see if the swans eggs had hatched.
All six eggs had hatched and the cygnets were all sitting close to their mother, as seen in the first two photos below. In the third photo their father was having a feed nearby.
The next three photos are views further along the River Wansbeck between Sheepwash Bridge and the car park at Wansbeck Riverside Park.
