25 March 2013 - Blyth, Northumberland Coast.
This afternoon we visited Blyth where the sea was very rough after days of strong easterly winds.
It was high tide and waves were breaking over the lighthouse at the end of the east pier, as seen in the first three photos below.
The fourth photo is a view taken from the beach between the piers where the sand was up to the top of the harbour wall. The last photo is view along the road in the harbour where mini dunes were forming from sand drifting across the top of the harbour wall in the strong wind.

11 March 2013 - Amble, Northumberland Coast.
This afternoon we visited Amble as the wind was from the North East and very strong, which meant there would be a rough sea. When we arrived the sea was very rough and around high tide waves were breaking over the breakwaters and pier.
The first three photos below are views of the pier and breakwaters which were taking a pounding with waves breaking up above the height of the lamp posts. The fourth photo is a view looking south to Wellhaugh Point with waves breaking high above the sea wall.
The fifth photo is a view of boats moored in the harbour and the last photo is a view across the Little Shore Beach to the quay and a crane that was being used by workers carrying out repairs.
