01 February 2013 - Ashington Community Woodland, Northumberland.

This morning we went for a walk at Ashington Community Woodland, on the north side of the town. This is a location we had not visited before and were surprised to find very quiet paths and a small lake.

The first two photos below are views of Haydon Letch, a lake and stream in the woods. The third photo is a view along one of the paths near Haydon Letch, dominated by one of the nearby giant wind turbines.

The fourth photo is a view of the disused and partly dismantled railway between Ashington and New Moor Crossing (beyond which it is still in use). The last photo is a view of the seating area and sign post at the main entrance to the woods.
