22 March 2011 - Warkworth Beach and Alnmouth Walk, Northumberland.
This morning we visited Warkworth for a walk along the Beach to the mouth of the River Aln at Alnmouth, returning along the path behind the dunes.
The first two photos below are views of Warkworth Beach looking south towards Amble, with Coquet Island visible on the left. The sand on this day looked superb, very light and clean.
The third photo is a view of the mouth of the River Aln, followed by a view across the river to Alnmouth.
The fifth photo is a view along the path behind the dunes, looking towards Alnmouth and the last photo is a view of Warkworth Golf Course and the club house.

14 March 2011 - River Wansbeck, Morpeth, Northumberland.
This afternoon, after visiting Sheepwash we visited Morpeth for a walk along the River Wansbeck through Carlisle Park.
The first photo below is a view of Telford Bridge taken from the footbridge, followed by a view of Morpeth Weir.
The next two photos are views down the river past the weir to the bridges and the last photo is a view of the snowdrops that were still flowering beside the river in Carlisle Park.

14 March 2011 - River Wansbeck, Sheepwash, Northumberland.
This morning we visited Wansbeck Riverside Park for a walk along the River. It was a warm, sunny morning and there were quite a few people walking at this popular spot.
The first three photos below are views of the riverside footpath between Sheepwash and Stakeford. The fourth photo is a view of the Black Bridge which is currently being renovated and the last photo is a view of Stakeford Bridge.

07 March 2011 - Blyth, Northumberland Coast.
Today we visited Blyth South Beach and walked to the South Harbour and West Pier. It was a lovely sunny day with quite a few fishing boats, yachts and ships coming and going.
In the first photo below a fishing boat is seen passing the lighthouse at the end of Blyth East Pier and in the second photo the cargo ship Union Silver was leaving the river a short time later.
The third photo is a view from the beach between the two piers and the fourth photo is a view of yachts and fishing boats in Blyth South Harbour and Marina. The last photo is a view of a twin hull fishing boat returning past the end of Blyth West Pier where a number of sea anglers were fishing.

05 March 2011 - Pegswood Station, Northumberland.
Today a passenger excursion train hauled by Deltic no. 55022 "Royal Scots Grey" passed through Pegswood Station on it's way to Edinburgh.
This loco was 50 years old just a few days earlier so we took some photos for the railways section of our Northumberland website.
The first photo is a close up view as the train passed through the station, followed by a view as it approached the platforms. The third photo is a view of a more modern passenger train that passed through a few minutes earlier.

01 March 2011 - Nunriding Moor, Northumberland.
Today we visited Nunriding Moor near Mitford in Northumberland, for an afternoon walk. The weather was sunny, remarkably mild and very spring-like.
The first three photos below are views looking towards Nunriding Moor taken along the road leading to the hall. The fourth photo is a view looking in the direction of Morpeth and the last photo is a view of some sheep who had been very noisy earlier, but were now grazing quietly in the warm afternoon sun.
