27 July 2011 - River Coquet, Amble, Northumberland.
This evening we walked along Warkworth Beach to the north side of the River Coquet at Amble, returning along the path behind the dunes.

14 July 2011 - Kielder Forest Drive, Northumberland.
This afternoon we drove along the forest drive through Kielder Forest. This is a toll road that runs mostly along gravel tracks from the A68 near Byrness to Kielder Castle and Village. It is also a working haul road used by forest vehicles and trucks.
The first three photos below are views along the forest drive, followed by a view at Blakehope Nick which is the highest point along the route.
The fifth photo is a view of Kielder Water taken near the dam later in the day.

14 July 2011 - Hindhope Linn Waterfall, Redesdale Forest, Northumberland.
This morning we visited Hindhope Linn, a waterfall in Redesdale Forest. The waterfall is reached by a short walk from the car park at the east end of Kielder Forest Drive just off the A68 road.
The first photo below is a view of the waterfall which is hidden away in the forest. The second photo is a view of the footpath alongside the Hindhope Burn, followed by a view of the path leading up through the forest from the burn. The last photo is a view along the Pennine Way long distance path in Redesdale Forest, near the waterfall.

13 July 2011 - Bothal, Northumberland.
This afternoon we walked to Bothal as far as the village and River Wansbeck. The first photo below is a view we have taken many times before of Bothal Castle, but it always looks different throughout the year.
On the way back we passed some horses that were trotting around their field when we passed, as seen in the next two photos. In the field next to them the farmer was cutting and bailing grass, as seen in the fourth photo. The last photo is a close up view of a hoverfly on a thistle flower.

04 July 2011 - Newbiggin, Northumberland.
This morning we a short visit Newbiggin on the Northumberland Coast.
Below are two views looking along the bay from the rocks beside the Needles Eye followed by a view to the seafront where someone had parked a Range Rover on the beach.
