28 June 2010 - Bothal, Northumberland.
Tonight we walked to Bothal as the sun was getting low in the sky and casting long shadows. It was very warm with little air movement in the valley where Bothal Village and Castle are located.
The first two photos below are views of Bothal Castle where a marquee had been erected in the grounds. The second two photos are views taken from the road between Bothal and Pegswood.
22 June 2010 - Blyth, Northumberland.
Tonight we visited Blyth to take some photos of the large container ship Cala Ponente that was due to leave after a long term berth in the port. Unfortunately it didn't leave so we took photos of some of the small boats that were coming and going.
The first photo below shows a yacht that was gleaming in the warm evening sunshine as it sailed past the lighthouse. In the second photo a service vessel the Forth Sentinel was returning to the port after carrying out some work off Cambois Beach. The third photo is a view of the inshore rescue boat which was leaving the river quite quickly.
The last two photos are views of the piers and Blyth South Harbour.

The first photo below is a view of the harbour at low tide, looking towards the Kings Arms and the "Cut" which is the old harbour entrance and where ships used to moor and be loaded many years ago.
The second photo is a view of the harbour entrance, followed by a closer view showing how shallow the water can be at low tide.
17 June 2010 - Blyth, Northumberland.
This afternoon we visited Blyth to take a few photos on the way back from Seaton sluice. A sailing ship, the De Tukker was busy docking at Blyth quayside (using it's engine), as seen in the first photo below.
On the other side of the river a cargo ship, the Vancouverborg, was busy unloading at Alcan Quay, as seen in the second photo. The third photo is a view up the river with both ships in view.
