28 Feb. 2006 - Bothal, near Morpeth
A late afternoon walk to Bothal in a bitterly cold
wind was not intended as a photo outing.
However, armed with a compact camera a spectacular
winter sunset was not to be missed.
This photo was taken just as the sun was setting
on the horizon with the camera on auto.

21 Feb. 2006 - Lizard Point and Souter
Lighthouse.
A trip to South Shields provided an opportunity
for some photos at Souter Lighthouse.
Lizard Point and the lighthouse are located at the
south end of Marsden Bay and it was wild and windy walking along
the cliff top path to the lighthouse.
Between the fast moving clouds the sun shone through
brightly now and then, for some photos that will be added to the
South
Shields section of our Tyne Photos website.
Souter lighthouse was the first electric operated
lighthouse in the world and opened in 1871. It is now looked after
by the National Trust.
This photo shows the Lighthouse and the massive
Fog Horns located on their own building.

19 Feb. 2006 - Angerton and Hart Burn
A walk from Angerton to the Hart Burn near Meldon
Park this afternoon.
This area, west of Morpeth is one of Northumberland's
secret areas that is off the beaten track. We walked from Low Angerton,
through High Angerton and down to the footbridge that crosses the
Hart Burn.
The Hart Burn joins the River
Wansbeck near here and is really much larger than the term "burn"
would make you think.
Beside the old footbridge is a ford used by farm vehicles,
probably quite deep and fast flowing in wet weather and with muddy
approaches.
It was a dull afternoon, but here is a photo "painting"
of the Hart Burn and ford.

11 Feb. 2006 - Amble
Today we visited Amble, a port on the Northumberland
Coast.
We didn't go with photography in mind, just a walk
around the harbour, which is somewhere we often go. However I took
a camera that fits in my coat pocket just in case there were any
opportunities.
As luck would have it there were as the sun shone
for a while, so we got a few good photos, as well as some exercise,
which was needed as a bag of chips from our favourite fish shop
was also a must!
Some of the photos will be added to the Amble
Section of our Northumberland website.
Amble Harbour is a pleasant place, popular with anglers
who use the pier and still quite a busy fishing port.
This boat was entering the River Coquet, just after
high tide to unload it's catch.

08 Feb. 2006 - Warkworth,
Alnmouth and Edlingham
We visited Warkworth, Alnmouth and Edlingham today for the sole
purpose of taking photos.
Some of the photos are for our Northumberland
website and others as image library stock.
It was fine and sunny for most of the time but clouds rolled over
at Edlingham.
Since blue skies were needed for these photos that signalled end
of play, but fortunately not before getting some decent shots.
While at Alnmouth we also had a walk along the beach and dunes
before heading off to Edlingham.
Below is a view to the River Coquet from the dunes at Alnmouth.

04 Feb. 2006 - Rothley
This afternoon was very fine and sunny, so we went for a circular
walk at Rothley.
We started at Rothley Crossroads and walked past Codger Fort and
the lakes, crossing the old Scots Gap to Rothbury Railway, before
turning left to Rothley West Shields.
We returned, crossing the old railway again and back to the crossroads,
where we had parked.
Some of the photos we took will be added to our Northumberland
Photos website and our Northumberland
Walks website.
During the afternoon there were a lot of jetstreams overhead
as this picture shows.
