Les + Jan Bell - Photographers Diary - Feb. 2005

20 Feb. 2005 - Bothal, Northumberland.

On a snowy morning we walked to Bothal to take some photos. When we were out a very heavy shower passed over. This photo was taken from the shelter of a tree just as the shower was ending.

14 Feb. 2005 - Bedlington, Northumberland.

We've been asked a few times for photos of some of the towns in South East Northumberland, in particular Bedlington. So this morning we paid a visit and took some photos of the High Street and the River Blyth at Bedlington Station.

Below is a view looking west along the High Street, in the foreground is the old market cross.

12 Feb. 2005 - Bothal, Northumberland.

A late afternoon walk to Bothal today. We hadn't intended taking many photos but had a camera with us.

10 Feb. 2005 - Elsdon, Northumberland.

Today we went for a walk in the countryside near Elsdon. On our return we walked around the village to take some photos.

Elsdon is a quiet and very pretty village, below is a photo of Elsdon Tower which dates back to the 15th century.

03 Feb. 2005 - Holy Island, Northumberland.

Today we went to Holy Island for a walk around the coast past Lindisfarne Castle and along the old wagonway before returning to the village.

After recovering from the shock of the extortionate parking charges we enjoyed the walk in some of the best weather we have ever known in February.

Below is a view of Lindisfarne Castle from the shore near the lime kilns.

02 Feb. 2005 - River Wansbeck, Northumberland.

This afternoon we walked along the River Wansbeck from North Seaton to Sandy Bay where it flows into the North Sea. At low tide the river is very shallow in places and most of the few boats that use it are left high and dry, as seen in the photo below.
